You just can’t go wrong with a low slung mid-century sectional sofa with kidney bean cushions and good solid ‘bones’.
Fifteen volunteers came to learn deconstruction upholstery, fabric layout, planning and reconstruction during three workshops between January and October, 2014 at the Shane Center in Livingston, Montana. The result is a fantastic and comfortable lounging addition to the art center’s lobby.

Just wanted to say that the funky sofa you’re talking about used to live at my house!! I love that you’re giving it a facelift!

Hi Belinda – it’s an awesome sofa! I love that it was originally pink bouclé. Really solid, too… it will have a great home at the Shane Center!
Hi … I have this exact sofa and I’m looking to get it reupholstered. Do you know how many yards of fabric it took? Thanks!
Hi Millie,
I believe it took about 12 yards of the main fabric, and about 2 yards of the contrasting fabric for the welt (cut on the bias). This would be the yardage for a solid fabric. For a patterned fabric you would have to adjust for the whatever repeat you’re dealing with. This is a sturdy piece of furniture – well worth the investment to reupholster – enjoy!

Hello! This couch looks great!
Do you by chance have the dimensions? I’m looking to build something similar for the lobby at my salon. If we get it built I’ll definitely send you a photo!
Sure, the measurements are 27h x 108w x 32d. I’d love to see your sofa when it’s done!
