When’s the last time you ran across something that took you right back to kid-hood? I recently had the pleasure of restoring a 1960’s sling chair for a client, which reminded me of my parents’ house. The house I grew up in was a beautiful mid-century split level, designed by my uncle, Richard Brooks, who also designed his own home in Concord, Massachusetts.
It follows that I grew up around the furniture that fit those homes – simple, comfortable and ‘slim’ – nothing like the overstuffed behemoths of later times. I loved it then and still do.
With a little research I found out this is a Falcon Chair, created by Sigurd Ressell for Vatne Mobler, a Norwegian company.

Do you have any idea where one can find replacement cushions for Falcon chairs?
Hi Tom,
I don’t have a source for replacement cushions made specifically for the Falcon chairs. A good upholsterer should be able to build new cushions using the old ones as a guide.
From the Living Home Furniture site:
Question from Nigel (May 1, 2017) –
Hi
Do you have any idea where I can source replacement buttons for my Falcon Chair ?
Thanks

Hi Nigel,
Any upholstery shop should be able to make new buttons to match your chair’s cover fabric or leather. Alternatively, you can have them made remotely and mailed back to you. You can find more info here: http://www.workroombuttons.com/Finished-Button-Service_ep_48-1.html.
I hope this helps!

Any idea where I can find an intact sling for the falcon chair? I’d like to keep it original if possible. But I if it’s not worth it I’ll take a remanufactured one.
My puppy nibbled just enough so it looks terrible.
Hi Ben,
That’s a shame. I’m sorry, I don’t currently know of a source for replacement slings made specifically for the Falcon chairs. If it’s not chewed beyond repair, then a good upholsterer should be able to repair it for you. If it’s really badly chewed, but still ‘recognizable’ then a good upholsterer should be able to build you a new sling using the old one as a guide. Carla
Hello,
So I’m seeing that there is not a supplier or source for new sling for chair? Warm regards
Also where there any type of pad or protector on the bottom of the legs?
Thank you
Hello Kayne,
There may be a supplier out there – I am just not aware of one. If anyone reading this knows, please let me know so I can pass it on. As to pads on the feet, it’s been a long time since I worked on this, but I think there were screw-in feet (don’t quote me on that, as I said – long time…) Wish I could be more help – maybe someone will chime in with more info here. Thanks for the question. Carla
My mom has several of these pieces: a tall chair, a short chair, a side table and a footstool. The only piece that is in tact is the short chair. Every other piece has a broken leg. Is it common for these pieces to break like this? Where could I get replacement legs to fix them all?
Hi Kerri,
The chair I worked on seemed very sturdy, so based on my limited experience, I would NOT expect that it is common for these pieces to break easily (perhaps your mom’s had some rough use?). I’m sorry I don’t know where to source replacement legs. If anyone reading this knows where to order parts, please share! Thanks :)
Hello.
I’m looking for a replacement front leg…. does anyone know where I can buy one? Please forward any tips, leads…
thanks
Katherine
Hi
I am from Vatne, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, where these chairs were made. I dont think there is any place you can buy replacements for these chairs. I think the only source is already existing chairs.
Thanks Linda, this is helpful!
I really love these chairs, but the tall chair has a broken leg, and I have a hard time to part with this chair, nonetheless.
If anyone is willing to donate the front left leg (the one with the company insignia on it), that would be extremely appreciated. I see that some chair owners have experienced this dilemma, as well.
I will gladly pay for the shipping cost. Anyone? Please.
Thank you for this posting and input from all. I have a falcon chair, the short variety with arms with tripod type steamed wood base that’s held up beautifully… but for the seat part of the cushion. I’ll stop looking for an original and go find a good upholster!
I have a replacement Falcon sling and black leather cushion. Is anyone interested in buying it? Both are for the low chair.
Hi Carla ,
I just saw your conversation on July 2019 about trying to find a replacement front leg for a Ressell low back Falcon chair. We can make them. We just started last month. So if anyone needs this service, we would be happy to help. Interested parties can contact me via email realyellow2004@yahoo.com. Thanks Paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks for being a resource for this!
I hope it will be an immense help toward keeping these chairs in circulation (and not relegated to the garage, attic or landfill!)
Carla
Would it be possible to put me in contact with Patricia from your above stories.

Hi Richard,
I keep commenters’ email addresses confidential, but I have alerted Patricia about your interest and gave her the link to revisit this conversation and respond if she still has it available. If she chooses to respond, the two of you can proceed from there. I hope it works out for you. I hope this helps,
Carla
